Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials have booked a disproportionate assets case against Chief Engineer, Andhra Pradesh Education Welfare and Infrastructure Development Corporation (APEWIDC), Bhumireddy Jagadiswar Reddy, for allegedly amassing illegal properties worth crores of rupees.
In a major breakthrough, the teams conducted simultaneous raids on Jagadiswar Reddy’s assets in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu on Monday.
They found flats, plots, agriculture lands, jewellery and cash registered in the names of his family members.
“The Central Investigation Unit (CIU) of ACB conducted raids at Hyderabad, Ajjakollu and Ammapalli villages in Mahabubnagar district, Vijayawada, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Chennai and other places. The searches are going on,” said ACB Director General R.P. Thakur.
The accused officer started his stint as a junior engineer in Rural Water Supply in the Panchayat Raj Department in May 1980. He was elevated as Deputy Executive Engineer in 1980 and as Executive Engineer in 2005. Jagadiswar Reddy was promoted as Superintending Engineer in 2008 and he became Chief Engineer in March 2014.
In family members’ names
He served in different cadres in many districts in A.P. and Telangana States and is now on deputation in the APEWIDC, the DG said.
The CIU officials found a residential flat worth ₹20 lakh at Dwarakapuri Colony, Hyderabad, commercial complex at Wanaparthy, valued at ₹10 lakh, houses at Ajjakollu and Ammapalli villages worth ₹40 lakh, registered in the name of his wife B. Hymavathi.
The accused had constructed a three-storied building at Bagh Amberpet in Hyderabad worth about ₹1 crore and possessed about 30 acres of agriculture lands worth more than ₹1 crore registered in the name of his elder daughter B. Indira Priyadarshini.
About 20 acres of agriculture lands and residential houses and flats were also registered in the names of his two other daughters – B. Snigdha and B. Ravali – at several places.
