Visitors to Charminar can finally see it rid of graffiti, courtesy ongoing restoration taken up by Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
The first floor of the monument which is open to public, is completely defaced. Charminar’s custodian, ASI plans to restore the entire first floor at the cost of Rs. 25 lakh. “The work will be taken up in four stages. Our aim is to make the first floor graffiti free. Works are likely to end by February next year,” said R. Krishnaiah, superintending archaeologist, ASI Hyderabad.
