January 10, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 06:24 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said the Central government was aiming to link employment with education, and towards this end, has signed MoUs with various government departments.

Delivering his address as chief guest at the Moulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) here on Friday, Mr. Naqvi said the Prime Minister wished to include Muslims in mainstream education, and asked the officials to set up educational institutions where minorities were in greater numbers.

Skill development and technical education will be given priority for minority upliftment, he said.

Talking about Mission Empowerment, he said social, educational and economic empowerment together alone will result in total empowerment, and hoped MANUU would work to this end.

He promoted the idea of opening Urdu schools along with Madrassas where children can get mainstream education in subjects such as English, Hindu and other languages, so that their employability increases.
