Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment Bandaru Dattatreya said the Central government was ready to extend all possible assistance under the Market Intervention Fund to help chilli farmers hit by steep fall in prices of chilli.

Speaking to newsmen here on Tuesday evening during his brief halt in the town en-route Bhadrachalam, Mr Dattatreya said the Centre would positively respond if the State government came up with concrete proposals to bail out distressed chilli farmers from the present precarious situation.

The Union of State Labour and Employment reiterated that the Central government was committed to setting up a steel factory at Bayyaram and creating employment opportunities to the local youth.
