Chief Minister K. Rosaiah on Sunday said that it was the responsibility of the State government to provide basic facilities such as roads, drainages and lighting in several areas of the city.

Speaking after inaugurating the 11 km Central Modern Lighting at BHEL crossroads, he said that the city had been expanding phenomenally and several areas have come under Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) as such much more needs to be done.

Works pertaining to setting up lighting, drainages and roads would be taken up soon in areas which were found lacking the basic amenities, he said. The newly inaugurated central modern lighting was completed at a cost of Rs. Rs. 2 crore and covers areas between BHEL and Nakkavagu Bridge. J. Geeta Reddy, Minister for Information and Public Relations and Banda Karthika Reddy, Mayor, were also present at the event.
