Protesting the steep hike in the cement prices, the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of Builders in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh States has unanimously decided to extend the cement purchasing holiday till July 20.
The JAC represented by the Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India (CREDAI) with all its chapters in both the States and in association with Andhra Pradesh Real Estate Developers’ Association (APREDA), Telangana Real Estate Developers’ Association (TREDA), Builders’ Association of India (BAI) and Telangana Builders’ Federation (TBF), had earlier gone on the cement purchase holiday till July 13.
At a meeting on Sunday attended among others by C.Shekar Reddy, national president of CREDAI, Jaiveer Reddy, president CREDAI-Hyderabad, S. Ram Reddy, general secretary, CREDAI-Hyderabad, G. Ram Reddy, co-ordinator and co-convenor of JAC, P. Dasarath Reddy, president- APREDA/TREDA and C. Prabhakar Rao, president-TBF, the JAC unanimously decided to extend their protest by another week.
In a press release, the committee said that in the last one week, 2,000 developers along with 1,000 small, medium and mega contractors did not purchase cement in protest against the unjustified increase in cement prices.
“We again demand the cement manufacturers to avoid cartelisation to affect an increase of up to 50 per cent in both the States and roll back the steep hike to a justifiable increase in prices,” the JAC added in the press release.
