Closed Circuit TV cameras at Secunderabad railway station helped the police solve the theft of a handbag forgotten by a passenger.

Railway police on Monday arrested two railway sweepers, P. Laxmi, 37, and Satyam, 51, after the video footage recorded by the cameras showed them taking away the passenger’s bag. It contained four grams of gold ornaments, Rs. 9,000 and some documents, the Secunderabad Railway SP M. Kantha Rao said.

A woman passenger left the hand bag on a cement bench at platform No. 10 and boarded a train. Minutes later, she pulled the chain and rushed back to the platform after realising that she forgot the bag at the platform. By then, the two sweepers noticed the bag and took it away, the SP said.
