The Jawahar Bal Bhavan located in Public Gardens came alive on Saturday, when over 200 creative children shook the stage with their dance moves even as they spread the message of protecting the fragile environment.
Organised by APPCB in association with the National Green Corps and Jawahar Bal Bhavan as part of their ‘World Environment Day' celebrations, the event saw over 800 students participating in it. The programme which is held annually was spread over three days from May 27 to May 29 and aimed at creating environmental awareness, Surender Raj, Joint Chief Environmental Engineer, said.
Appreciating the efforts of APPCB and NGC in reaching out to the youngsters, Malathi, a school coordinator said such events leave an indelible print on the minds of the children. “They become more aware of their surroundings and feel responsible towards it,” she said.
Over 600 students from 60 schools took part in painting, dance, singing, quiz etc. This year's theme was ‘Many Species. One Planet. One Future.' Other interesting competitions such as story writing competitions, ‘art with waste material' etc too were held.
