The Legal Metrology Department on Wednesday booked 50 cases against Home Town shopping mall in Punjagutta and seized property worth Rs.10 lakh for altering the retail sale price by affixing additional MRP stickers on packages.

This apart, the packages did not have the manufacturers’ address and retail sale price on them.

Following receipt of public complaints, the authorities conducted surprise inspections at Home Town. After the inspection, authorities seized personal weighing machines (selling without licence), electronic packages, clothes, bedsheet packages, bathroom accessories, coffee maker machines etc for violation of Legal Metrology Act and Packaged Commodities Rules, said R.P. Thakur, Controller of Legal Metrology in a press release.

He appealed to the consumers to lodge complaints, if any, over the department’s helpline 1860-425-3333 or send a sms to 94901-65619.
