Parents of an 11-month-old baby girl on Friday approached the Saroornagar police alleging that the girl was raped by her caretaker’s 40-year-old son.
The parents working in a corporate hospital in the suburbs used to leave the baby with the caretaker at her residence everyday and go to work. On Thursday too they did the same. When they returned home in the evening, they found scratch marks on the baby’s legs.
When they took the baby to a doctor, they were informed that someone had tried to violate her. As the caretaker’s son Nagaraj was present when the couple left the baby in the morning, they suspected him to be the culprit and lodged a complaint with the police. They booked a rape case along with the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act case and detained Nagaraj.
Medical report awaited“Circumstantial evidence shows that Nagaraj was not involved in the offence though we are still questioning him. We have enquired with his friends, colleagues and family members, who too have denied his role. We are waiting for the medical report and based on the medical opinion, we will take necessary action,” said Saroornagar Inspector A.V.R. Narasimha Rao.
