Car rams bike killing woman at traffic junction

A woman was killed while her husband is battling for life after a car rammed their bike at Gachibowli crossroads on Thursday night, the police said on Friday. Death was instant for Sony Ramchandani, 36, an employee of Infosys, while her son Moksh, 4, escaped with minor injuries. Her husband, Harish Prasad, was critically wounded and slipped into a coma. They were coming to Gachibowli from Manikonda on a bike and stopped due to the red signal along with other vehicles around 9 p.m. Sethab Kumar, working as manager in Deloitte at Mindspace junction office, was driving a Skoda car along with five internees, including a woman, Gachibowli Inspector J. Ramesh told The Hindu . “Kumar took the internees for a drive on ORR, had some beers and was showing them how to race on roads when the accident occurred,” the Inspector said.

The car rammed the bike from behind. The woman was thrown off the bike and fell on a Honda car. She succumbed to injuries three hours later. Kumar and four other passengers fled abandoning the car at the junction. Rishab Srivastava, who sat in the front seat, suffered minor bruises and was caught by the police. He tested positive for alcohol after a breathalyser test. His blood alcohol content was 70 mg/ml.
