Car driver booked for rape of teen

A teenaged girl was allegedly raped and assaulted by a car driver at Nacharam, Tukaramgate police said on Tuesday.

Accused Ravi, who is absconding, was known to the victim when she lived with her family in Nacharam.

“Ravi made her believe that he loved her. He had promised to marry her. However, he reportedly started avoiding her after her family shifted,” said Tukaramgate Inspector B. Sudarshan Reddy said.

On Sunday, Ravi allegedly asked her to meet him at Nacharam to discuss their relationship.

After meeting her at a secluded place, he sexually assaulted the teenager and attacked her with rocks when she raised the issue of their marriage.

Ravi has been booked for on charges of cheating, rape and assault.

Another driver held

A man was arrested by police on charges of outraging the modesty of a woman at Mangalhat on Tuesday.

Mohd. Aleem (30), a car driver from Allabanda Pahad in Mangalhat, entered a house and allegedly misbehaved with a woman.

Later, he threatened her husband with a knife when the latter protested his behaviour, Mangalhat police Inspector G. Sridhar said.

Based on the couple’s complaint, police registered a case under IPC Section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), Section 506 (criminal intimidation) and Section 25A of the Arms Act.

He was produced before a city court which remanded him to judicial custody.
