Campaign to let voters know their polling booths

April 07, 2014 01:01 am | Updated November 17, 2021 12:14 am IST - HYDERABAD:

A ‘Know Your Polling Station’ campaign would be launched in Hyderabad before the voting day in order make voters aware of the location of their polling booths, said GHMC Commissioner and Hyderabad District Election Officer (DEO), Somesh Kumar.

Addressing a meeting of Returning Officers (ROs) held here, Mr. Somesh Kumar said a survey carried out last week revealed that around 50 per cent of those surveyed did not know where they had to go to exercise franchise. Apart from the Booth Level Officers (BLOs) visiting the electorate to handover slips of polling station location, a sustained campaign would be build to make the voters aware of the same. Mr. Somesh Kumar announced that an assistant sector officer would be assigned to each polling station to reduce the burden on sector officers.
