With candlelight vigil, skits and pledge, the year-long campaign on prevention of Child Sexual Abuse, conceived by Telangana Police Department, has begun at People’s Plaza here on Friday. “Have courage and speak up when you come across abuse. Don’t be afraid of raising voice when other children are abused,” said actress and animal welfare activist Amala Akkineni. Congratulating the TS police for taking the initiative to spread awareness about CSA, she suggested to kids to have groups of friends to discuss about abuse.

Film director Boyapati Srinivas said the initiative should be supported by all sections of society. “Talk to your parents when you face abuse,” he said.

Film producer Suresh Krishna said it was high time children were explained about “good touch and bad touch”.

Singer Sunitha and film actress Rashi Khanna asked the parents to be aware of CSA and appealed to children to have courage to fight it. Home Minister Nayani Narsimha Reddy, Principal Secretary, Education, Rajeev M. Acharya, DGP Anurag Sharma and Hyderabad Police Commissioner M. Mahender Reddy were present.
