Cameraman Naidu appears before SIT

He was grilled for about six hours

Complying with the notice issued to him, popular cameraman of the Telugu film industry, Shyam K Naidu appeared before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the drugs case. Naidu turned up at the SIT office on Thursday morning and the questioning started at 10.15 am. Clad in a blue shirt, he was accompanied by his two associates.

On the second day of questioning, Mr. Naidu was grilled for about six hours by Excise Director (Enforcement) Akun Sabharwal, SIT head S. Srinivasa Rao and other officials. The cameraman is known for his work in hit movies like Pokiri. On the first day, popular director Puri Jagannadh was questioned for more than 10 hours by SIT.

Notices were issued to members of the film industry following the seizure of huge haul of hard drugs and arrests of peddlers in the last few weeks.

On Friday, character artist P. Subba Raju, who played a prominent role in the blockbuster, Baahubali- The Conclusion, has to appear before the officials.

In a related development, representatives of three major courier firms, DHL, Blue Dart and Fedex met the SIT officials. They were handed over written instructions regarding prevention of delivery of banned narcotic and psychotropic substances by courier.

The investigation into a series of drug related arrests has revealed that drugs were being procured from western countries through couriers .
