Training inculcates discipline among drivers and they tend to follow traffic rules with sincerity, a study by the Telangana State Cabs and Bus Operators Association (TSCBOA) has revealed.
The TSCBOA, which conducted training for more than 1,000 drivers in February, said trained drivers had not violated a single traffic rule since they attended the programme. It inculcated discipline, punctuality and respect towards the law, among drivers. The first training programme was held at Cognizant Technology Services (CTS) at Gachibowli on February 7 while the second programme was held on March 20 at GE I Labs at Hitec City. Nearly 1,500 drivers, working for different cab operators attached to IT and other companies, participated in both programmes.
“We did not get a single complaint of any violation, including parking on the wrong side. After the training, cab drivers are acting in a more responsible manner, said TSCBOA president Syed Nizamuddin in a statement here.
“Earlier, we were never treated as part of the system. But we were quite impressed with the speech of Cyberabad Commissioner C.V. Anand in our training programme. He exhorted us to act like Brand Ambassadors of Hyderabad,” said Md Ateeq, a driver who participated in the programme.
According to Syed Nizamuddin, after the launch of training programmes, many drivers expressed their wish to learn spoken English so that they could interact better with the passengers.
“The training programme has brought about an attitudinal change among drivers. We will continue the series of training programmes and drivers attached to IT companies will be trained in a phased manner,” he said.
