By KCR yardstick, three TRS MPs are below par

Chief Minister releases progress card of party parliamentarians on the basis of a survey commissioned by him

Putting three TRS MPs on notice for not-up to-mark performance, Chief Minister and party president K. Chandrasekhar Rao, however, counselled them -- A. Sitaram Naik of Mahbubabad, Ch. Malla Reddy of Malkajgiri and Dr. B. Narsaiah Goud of Bhongir -- that there was no cause for concern as they would scrape through next elections with the strength of party and MLAs in Assembly segments falling under the three parliamentary constituencies.

Mr. Rao released the progress card of TRS MPs on the basis of a survey commissioned by him at a meeting of party MPs, MLAs and MLCs at his camp office on Saturday.

He was said to have handed over a copy of the report to Nalgonda Member of Parliament Gutta Sukhender Reddy for sharing details with other MPs.

The report listed Karimnagar MP B. Vinod Kumar at the top, followed by Peddapalli MP Balka Suman. Mr. Naik, Mr. Malla Reddy and Mr. Goud were at the bottom.

The meeting was scheduled for Friday evening but postponed to Saturday in view of debate on Bill for special development fund for SCs and STs in the Assembly.

Sources said Mr. Rao asked the MPs now and Ministers and MLAs in the past who secured less marks in surveys not to panic but improve their performance in the coming years.

He expressed confidence that the TRS would win 15 out of 17 parliamentary constituencies in next elections.

The MIM would claim one seat while it would be a close contest between TRS and BJP in Secunderabad, he said.

He allayed apprehensions about sitting MLAs not getting ticket to contest.

Confident of second term

People were happy that the development and welfare programmes of government reached them. Hence, they were all set to give the TRS a second term in 2019. All surveys also pointed to a thumping victory for TRS. The elected representatives should be accessible to people to fulfil their expectations from the government, Mr. Rao said.

The meeting discussed the membership drive, party plenary on April 21 and foundation day at Warangal on April 27.

It was decided that about 30 lakh people be mobilised for the Warangal meeting. Right from Mr. Rao, down to party workers, everyone would offer `shram dan’ one day and raise funds for arrangements to the public meeting.

The meeting would be preceded by the plenary at a convention centre here where the party president would be elected.

It would be the culmination of organisational elections which would start with the constitution of village committees on April 6 and mandal committees on April 12 and 13.

There would not be district presidents nor committees as the party would appoint two coordinators for each district to look after their affairs.

Home Minister Nayini Narasimha Reddy would again be the returning officer for election of the president. He donned the role in all elections.
