A dealer of a home appliances company ended his life at his shop-cum-service centre in Marredpally on Wednesday, allegedly due to harassment by the company’s officials, police said.
A suicide note, purportedly written by the victim Vijay Kumar (32), and recovered from the store where he hanged himself, blamed officials of the company for his death, saying they had been continually pressurising him to meet sales targets.
“[Vijay] Kumar stated in the note that he had no problems and the four persons were responsible for his death,” Marredpally Inspector K. Shashank Reddy said, adding that a case of abetment to suicide has been registered against Atul Mathur of Delhi, Senthil Murugan of Chennai, Debasish Mukhopadhyay and Raghu Kumar of Hyderabad.
Vijay Kumar, who hailed from Venkatnagar of Tukaramgate, had worked as a service engineer with the company for over 12 years before turning dealer two years ago.
“[Vijay] Kumar’s wife Maheshwari said her husband had been talking about harassment by the company officials to meet targets,” the Inspector said. On Wednesday morning, Vijay Kumar left home for the shop. At around 9.30 a.m., other workers reached the shop but found the shutters down.
After a while, they lifted the shutters and went inside, only to see Vijay Kumar’s body hanging from the ceiling.
