A Division Bench of the A.P. High Court, comprising Chief Justice Kalyan Jyothi Sen Gupta and P.V. Sanjay Kumar, on Monday asked the State government to place on record as to what action it had taken in the aftermath of the Volvo bus accident.

The court was reacting to a writ plea filed by retired Engineer M. Ram Mohan Rao, who contended that the government has not taken any concrete steps.

Road safety

The Bench also dealt with road safety and other aspects and issued a notice to the government in a writ petition filed by one Raju, who sought payment of compensation to the family members of the deceased and also compassionate appointment. Counsel for the petitioner said the Transport Department officials conducted an enquiry, but it did not yield any concrete result.

A. Vijaya Mohan Reddy, president of Forum for Better Vikramsimhapuri, in another petition urged the court to direct the government to see that speed limits were strictly adhered to.
