For the first time in the country, BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited) has chosen Hyderabad to roll out its Wi-Fi services in public places. At six locations in the city, internet speeds of 4G plus will be on offer to mobile users of various network operators from Monday. Users can avail the initial 100 mb data free of cost per day at Maitrivanam in Ameerpet, Kamineni Hospitals in LB Nagar and Koti, District Treasury Office, BSNL office in Abids and one such location in Gachibowli.
Existing subscribers
The existing postpaid and prepaid BSNL mobile subscribers can use the service and they will be charged on their number. For walk-in customers of other networks, amount should be recharged by logging on to the Wi-Fi portal to start using the service. The plan ranges from ₹10 for 100 mb data usage for a one day validity to ₹599 for 10 gb data for 30 days validity. Physical vouchers to avail the Wi-Fi services will also be made available at various outlets in the city. In the coming few days, existing broadband customers can login with their username and password in the hotspot zone to get higher speeds.
Access points
According to L. Anantharam, Chief General Manager, BSNl, 925 access points across 121 hotspot zones will be installed in Telangana in the next two months. He added that Mobile Data Offloading facility will be activated in the next weeks because of which BSNL users handsets will automatically connect to the Wi-Fi once they are in the hotspot zone.
