Celebrating different faiths in a friendly way, a youth development organisation, Rubaroo, and British Deputy High Commissioner relived the inter-faith week celebrations held in November 2017, here on Saturday. The gathering at the Deputy High Commissioner Andrew Fleming’s comprised 100 youngsters who had shared their experiences with faith the previous year.

Faculty members of 26 partner institutions and artists attended the event. The inter-faith event titled Agaaz-e-Baatcheet organised in November, was meant to initiate dialogue between people of different faiths thereby celebrating their cultures and diversity of Hyderabad. It was supported by Roda Mistry College of Social Work, Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Madina Degree and PG College for Women, Nanakram Bhagwandas Science College, Babu Jagjeevan Ram Degree College, Roots Degree College, Muffakham Jah College of Engineering and Technology, Government City College, Shadan Medical College and Osmania University among others.

Interaction with youth

At Saturday’s meeting, Mr. Fleming interacted with youth who expressed interest in continuing the process.

“The inter-faith week helped establish good practices for strengthening relationship between people and organisations from different faiths. It helped youth express their own faith as they intermingled and appreciated their peers of different faiths,” Mr. Fleming said.

As the event was a success, similar programmes are likely to be held each year in the city, said members of Rubaroo team.
