Several parts of Telangana experienced scorching heat for the second consecutive day on Monday, prompting weathermen to sound a heatwave alert for Tuesday.

India Meteorological Department warned of heat wave conditions in northern Telangana districts including Adilabad, Nirmal stretching into central and western parts of the State. Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Medak, Jagitial and Macherial are some other districts where heat wave conditions could prevail on Tuesday, IMD said.

On Monday, IMD recorded a maximum temperature of 42 degrees Celsius in Hyderabad while the State’s automatic weather stations recorded 42.9 degrees Celsius.

The maximum temperature recorded in the city on Monday afternoon was lower than that in rest of the State.

Meanwhile, southern and south-eastern districts of the State are likely to witness some relief owing to thundershower activity, IMD informed.
