The Mattewada police in the city registered a case against Telangana State Chess Association secretary Annam Chinni Venkateswarlu for posting pornographic material in a WhatsApp group.
One Pedada Sivakrishna of Bank Colony, Warangal, who is a civil engineer, lodged a complaint with the Mattewada police. He said that he was added as member of the TSCA009 WhatsApp group by Venkateswar Rao.
The group had many members including girls and women. The posting of pornographic videos and photographs hurt the sentiments of the members. The group was meant for Chess profession and sharing of information relating to the Chess.
“My number is 707532...... and I am shocked to see the photos posted by Chess Secretary,” Mr. Sivakrishna said. He handed over his mobile phone to the police for evidence.
Mattewada Circle Inspector M. Ravi Kumar said that they had registered a case 45/2017 under Sec 292 of IPC, Sec 67 of Information Technology Act 2008.
