‘Jihadist threat to India — the case for Islamic reformation by an Indian Muslim’, a book authored by journalist and political commentator Tufail Ahmad, was released on Saturday. Mr. Ahmad currently heads the South Asia Studies Project at the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) in Washington D.C.

Addressing the gathering, the author described jihad as a weaponised version of Islam, and said India is capable of handling a threat from Pakistan but the jihadi movement from the Middle-East is more dangerous. Though India has been facing severe threats from jihadists, there is no scope for them to take over the country.

The book launch was organised by Social Cause, a Hyderabad-based voluntary organisation. The event was attended by Sultan Shahin, founder and editor, New Age Islam, New Delhi, and several scholars, among others.
