Book Greyhounds team: CLC

July 04, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:53 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Members of the Civil Liberties Commission (CLC) here on Friday demanded that criminal cases be booked against the team of Greyhounds which allegedly killed three Maoists last month in an ‘encounter’ for reportedly violating human rights.

“They shot the boy, Vivek Kumar, from about 15 feet of distance, while the other two were shot a little farther away in the village of Lankapally in Chhattisgarh. However, the point here is that no matter how big the crime, criminals cannot be just killed in cold blood,” said Narayan Rao, joint secretary, CLC, here while addressing a press conference. Mr. Rao alleged that two other villagers, who were on their way to collect fire wood, were stopped and held till the entire operation was done. “In fact, it was ensured that they did not witness how the entire incident transpired. We demand that cases be booked against all the Greyhounds personnel involved,” he stated.
