Investigators probing the kidnap of a new-born baby girl from a private hospital at Dayara Market in Musheerabad on Monday stumbled on a body of another baby girl in bushes near the IIIT junction at Chandanagar on Tuesday afternoon.
Passers-by noticed the body wrapped in a pink cloth and alerted the police who rushed to the spot and preserved it at the Gandhi Hospital.
“As doctors and parents could not identify the body, we have decided to conduct a DNA test for identification,” said DCP (Central) V.B. Kamalasan Reddy.
Suspects detained
Police sources said three suspects were detained in connection with the Monday’s abduction case.
“As part of investigation, we are picking up suspects and interrogating them. We will be able to solve the case shortly,” a police official said.
He explained that efforts are on collect more details from the hospital staff and family members of the child.
Meanwhile, Chandanagar Inspector N. Vasu said that they had received information about the infant’s body from passers-by at around 2.30 p.m. Municipal workers claimed to have cleaned the site in the morning and did not find any body.
Unidentified persons might have abandoned the body in the bushes in the afternoon, he added.
