September 19, 2017 12:27 am | Updated 12:28 am IST - WARANGAL URBAN DT.

The Bharatiya Janata Party has demanded that the State Government convene an Assembly session to discuss the public issues.

Party MLA G. Kishan Reddy speaking to newsmen here on Monday, accused the Government of failing to deliver its promises. The fee reimbursement, free education, housing and others issues were not moving at the expected pace, he said.

The BJP leader was here to appear for a hearing at the Railway Court in connection with rail-roko agitation in which he took part at Kazipet during the statehood movement. The Opposition has the right to know about the status of welfare programmes hence Assembly session must be convened now, he opined.

The suicide by a Home Guard in Kamareddy speaks volumes about the apathy of the State Government, he said and added that it showed how the ruling party was playing with the sentiments of the people.

Mr. Kishan Reddy ridiculed Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s claim that his party would win 98% seats in next Assembly elections. Now the State Government was in a defensive mood with growing public resentment, he observed. Hence the ruling party was focusing more on according individual benefits rather than tangible and long-term development.

“Mr. KCR is trying to lure every community – yadavas, fishermen and now women. He claims to be having support of all sections of the society which is far from truth as appeasements do not work,” he pointed out.

The BJP leader said that the Chief Minister once claimed that Telangana was rich state with surplus budget but he threw the State into debt trap due to lack of proper vision and administrative skills.

The TRS Government had also failed to come up with welfare measures for 40% population that lives in urban parts. The SC/ST/BC and minority corporations were ineffective in offering loans to unemployed youth, he said.

The party Warangal urban district president Rao Padma, State vice-president M. Dharma Rao, general secretary Ch. Sambamurthy, Kisan Morcha State president G. Madhusudhan Reddy, official spokesperson A. Rakesh Reddy and others were present.
