BJP, TRS to battle it out in Council polls

March 16, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 07:46 am IST - HYDERABAD:

It is a no holds barred election campaign by the BJP and ruling TRS in the elections to fill the vacancies from two graduates’ constituencies of Telangana Legislative Council which will be held on March 22. Though the elections are on a non-party basis, the candidates are identified by parties backing them.

On Sunday, leaders across parties undertook a hectic campaign for their respective candidates in the two constituencies representing Hyderabad-Ranga Reddy-Mahbubnagar as one clutch of districts and Warangal-Nalgonda-Khammam as another.

BJP ahead in campaign

Union Ministers M. Venkaiah Naidu, Prakash Javadekar, B.V. Sadananda Gowda and Nirmala Sitaraman campaigned for the BJP candidates, N. Ramachandra Rao and Errabelli Ramamohan Rao. The party was seemingly ahead of its rivals in announcing candidates, enrolling voters and launching the campaign.
