BJP national President Amit Shah’s second whirlwind visit to Telangana is scheduled to happen in the second week of September although it is not yet clear which part of the State will his focus be on this time. “His visit will be the continuing efforts by our party to strengthen it from the grassroots level as we have finalised an agitational programme to take on the State government by highlighting people’s problems,” said TS BJP president K. Laxman on Thursday.

Addressing a press conference at the party office, Dr. Laxman said the State working committees meeting will be held on July 22 and 23 in Warangal where Union Minister like Bandaru Dattatreya, party leaders like Ram Madhav and Muralidhara Rao are expected to attend.

“The two-day meet will review the party activities in the last three months, chalk out the future programme, discuss the current political scenario and the role of BJP. Most importantly, we will wish to highlight how the TRS gvernment went back on its word in not celebrating September 17 as Telangana Liberation Day,” he said. Accusing the government of communalising the celebrations by bowing to the MIM demand, he said the day symbolised the struggle for self-respect by Telangana people against the autocratic Nizam rule. “We will bring pressure on the Government to celebrate the event. We are planning a series of programmes from the polling booth level, mandal, district from next month and it will culminate in a public meeting in September,” he explained.

He also deplored the government for not taking steps to ensure revised minimum wages are paid to workers of Singareni Colleries and also those in the unorganised sector. The issue will be taken up to the Coal Minister and Coal secretary in Delhi. Stringent action was also demanded against those found guilty in the drug racket busted by the police.
