BJP national president Amit Shah has averred that the BJP-led NDA coalition which is set to complete three years of its tenure on May 26 has provided corruption free and transparent governance resolving the long pending issues of public importance.

The three-year rule had not given scope for the opposition to point a finger at the government which ensured that the growth rate scaled over 7.5% under the NDA regime. The 10-year UPA rule, in contrast, was steeped in corruption with allegations of misappropriation to the tune of ₹12 lakh crore.

‘Policy paralysis’

The Congress-led Government had also suffered a policy paralysis in that it could not take any major decision, including on the issues concerning national security.

“The surgical strikes conducted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi led government have instilled confidence among people and boosted the morale of the armed forces,” he said.

Mr. Shah was addressing the booth committee members and other party functionaries on the second day of his three-day visit to Nalgonda district on Tuesday. He said the pro-active steps taken by the BJP Government in checking price rise and ensuring growth at the same time had ensured that the BJP had improved its performance in successive elections since 2014 and won several of them.

Force to reckon with

“With 60% of the geographical area and having governments in 13 States, the BJP has emerged as a major force in the country,” he said.

The BJP president continued his interaction with the booth-level workers as well as visits to houses of the poor to get a first hand information about their living conditions.

Mr. Shah distributed gas cylinders to beneficiaries during his visit to villages like Velugupalli as part of the Prime Minister’s Ujjwala Yojana.

At Peddadevulapalli, he lamented how the village, located not far from Hyderabad, was suffering for want of water and sanitation. The fertility of the soil too deteriorated as several chemical factories are located in the vicinity, but the Telangana State Government did not come to the rescue of the people, he said.

Abhiyan

He said the party had launched Deen Dayal Upadhyay Vistaran Sampark Abhiyan involving over 4 lakh active workers who were working full time spanning from 15 days to one year to take the party to areas where it is no so strong. The abhiyan was launched as part of efforts to strengthen the party from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and Assam to Gujarat.

He said the presence of huge number of people at his meetings showed how they are keen on extending their support to the BJP to ensure that the policies of the Central Government reach their villages too.
