Urging party cadre to gear up for the impending gram panchayat elections, BJP senior leader and MLA G. Kishan Reddy said they would give preference to youth to contest polls.
He was addressing the Warangal Urban party executive meeting here along with district president Rao Padma where he asked the members to publicise Central government schemes in rural areas.
“The State government should have called for all-party meeting before deciding on the panchayat elections. But it lacked the decency,” he said, adding that the government must hold meeting of all party leaders immediately to ensure smooth conduct of the gram panchayat elections.
Mr Kishan Reddy directed the party cadre to launch a door-to-door campaign to apprise people of the failures of the TRS government.
They were also asked to tell people how the Centre was contributing to rural development with numerous schemes.
Party state vice-president M. Dharma Rao, former MLA M. Satyanarayana Reddy, leaders Vijaya Laksmi, P. Devaiah, N. Venugopal Reddy, R. Amrender Reddy, Ch. Sunil, G. Siva Kumar, K. Santhosh Reddy and Ch. Srinivas Reddy among others were also present at the meeting.
