BJP distances itself from Raja Singh’s comments

August 02, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 06:00 am IST - HYDERABAD:

The State BJP leadership on Monday distanced itself from the comments made by its Goshamahal MLA Raja Singh supporting the attacks on Dalits in Una by a cow vigilante group. N. Ramchander Rao, MLC and national executive member of BJP, issued a statement that the party “explicitly makes it clear that it does not endorse such views”.

In a two-and-a-half-minute video uploaded on his Facebook page, Mr. Raja Singh warned those killing cows or consuming its meat that they will be “taught a lesson” and appealed to the cow protectors to continue their work. With the video turning controversial, the State BJP has also said that no one has the right to take law into their hands.
