“It’s a second life for both of us,” said the man Reader’s Digest described as a one-man industry.
Hugging G. Eswar warmly, minus the melodrama the world-class celebrity fitness trainer was all too familiar with in various film industries, Amitabh Bachchan was full of praise for the former.
For both had come back from the brink, from life-threatening situations and instantly shared a chemistry that few could relate to. The superstar had just been told by noted producer Puri Jagannadh that Eswar had survived a major accident in the Army.
Life wasn’t easy after giving up the uniform, but as a firm believer in the benefits of hard work, Eswar soldiered on. In addition to becoming a certified nutritionist at the Army Sports Institute (ASI), Pune, he completed a one-year course in naturopathy and yogic sciences from Arogyadham, the nation’s premier academy in the said fields.
It wasn’t long before he got noticed, with Telugu star Venkatesh inviting him for personal fitness training. Soon after, he was called by Prabhas, Mahesh Babu and more recently Allu Arjun. Other big names who shared his expertise include(d) Krishnam Raju, Daggubati Rana, Anushka Shetty, Kajal Agarwal, Kangana Ranaut, Richa Gangopadhyay and Amala Paul besides well-known directors.
On a recent trip to Spain for an Arjun movie, Eswar visited the International Federation of Body Building (IFBB) at Madrid, where he checked out the research and equipment innovations in a rapidly changing scenario. Earlier, accompanying the same actor to Bangkok, Eswar attended a one-month course on ‘sports nutrition fuelling performance’.
Thanks to his proximity to Tollywood’s leading lights, Eswar also played a small part as a police officer in the film ‘Billa.’ The former army body building champion will not rest on his laurels though, hoping some day he will become a Hollywood celebrity fitness trainer as he steadily accumulates one achievement after another in his climb to the top.
