The Secunderabad Cantonment Board on Wednesday conducted its last board meeting before being dissolved for polls to elect eight civilian ward members. SCB president Brigadier Sunil S. Bodhe said orders from the Central Government to the effect were expected soon.

The SCB is set for historic elections this time around, with serving soldiers and their families being eligible to vote.

“There are 18,000-20,000 soldiers and their families and I request that their names be included in the voters’ list,” Brig. Bodhe said.

The meeting was also witness to some drama, when a a family tried to ‘gatecrash’, protesting the demolition of their house at Rasoolpura.

“We will not make any exceptions to illegally-constructed buildings, especially if they are commercial,” the board’s CEO Sujata Gupta maintained.
