The Backward Classes Youth Joint Action Committee on Wednesday felicitated Telangana University Vice-Chancellor P. Sambaiah for his efforts in getting ₹ 50 crore grant sanctioned to the university for the coming financial year.

Replying to the felicitation held at the Arts College Seminar Hall on the campus, the Vice-Chancellor stated that it was for the first time that the university was given a good amount of grant that includes ₹ 30 crore development grant. “All the credit goes to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao. It was also an unprecedented budget as it envisaged the all-round development of the downtrodden sections,” he added.

Former Registrar K. Shiva Shankar said that it was due to the relentless efforts of Mr. Sambaiah that the Government had made a budgetary allocation of ₹ 50 crore to the university. “Ever since he has taken over as the VC he has been making efforts to get funds from the Government, UGC and other funding agencies like Rashtriya Utchhatar Shiksha Abhiyan,” he added.

The JAC led by its State chairman Yendala Pradeep thanked the State Government for coming out with an all inclusive budget that gave top priority to the welfare and development of the Backward Classes.

The VC was felicitated with a big garland by the BC teachers, students and other staff members. Former Registrar M. Yadagiri, Principal Athar Sultana, faculty members Johnson Damera, Triveni, Nagaraj, Vasam Chandrashekar and others were present.
