On World Kidney Day, dialysis patients shrugged off their infirmities and took on their physicians in what was a cracker of a cricket contest.

White flannels and all, patients with end-stage kidney ailments showed that they are no lesser than the rest, convincingly defeating the team of doctors in a five-over cricket match at Cantonment Grounds, Secunderabad.

Winning skipper Satish also walked away with the best bowler award.

“It was a wonderful experience for all us. We should thank Nephroplus for organising the match,” Mr. Satish said.

“Patients come to us with the hope of leading a normal life and this event is our attempt to make a little difference in their lives,” said co-founder and Director Patients Services, Nephroplus, Kamal Shah. The doctors too welcomed the event. “Such events help us bond and build a relationship with the patients. They also gain a lot of confidence after participating in such events,” Nephrologist, Nephroplus, Dr. Krishnan said.
