The Banswada police busted the sensational robbery case at Balaji Traders, a rice mill, at Pitlam mandal headquarters on the intervening night of September 26 and 27 by arresting three out of four accused persons on Friday.
A total of ₹16.82 lakh in cash and seven tolas of gold ornaments were recovered from the accused. Giving details of the case at a press conference, here on Friday, Superintendent of Police N. Swetha said that the four-member inter-State robbery gang comprising Azahar Singh, Sagar Singh, Narsing and Pujari Singh broke into the mill owned by Bejugam Ramakrishna and took away ₹28.85 lakh from the cash chest after threatening the watchman.
Based on the complaint lodged by Ramakrishna on the following day, the Sub-Inspector of Police B. Srinath Reddy registered a case crime No. 132/2017 under Section 392 and launched the investigation.
On reliable information on the movement of the accused, the police led by the Banswada CI of Police S. Srinivas Rao today rushed to Pitlam and arrested accused number one Azahar Singh and three Narsingh at Maddila Chowrasta at around 11 a.m. They confessed to the offence and revealed the names of their two other accomplices Sagar Singh and Pujari Singh hailing from Jalna and Kamareddy respectively.
Belonging to the Sikelkari community they were all related and Narsingh is uncle of Azahar Singh. They were involved in at least half a dozen property offences under Kamareddy, Bodhan, Gandhari and Pitlam police station limits. Sagar Singh, who has been on the run, deposited an amount of ₹7 lakh from the stolen cash in pseudo name of Akash Singh in a bank at Jalna, according to the SP.
She explained that from Azahar Singh ₹9 lakh and Narsingh ₹7.82 lakh was recovered in cash and from Pujari Singh gold ornaments weighing 7 tolas. She commended the efforts of the CI of Police Srinivas Rao and the SI of Police Srinath Reddy in busting the case.
