Babri anniversary: terror alert keeps police on toes

A security blanket has been thrown over the city by the Hyderabad and Cyberabad police on Friday with Intelligence Bureau (IB) alerting them about possible attacks by some terror outfits marking Babri Masjid demolition anniversary on December 6.

Scores of armed and civil police teams were deployed at strategic places to check vehicle, intensify patrolling and frisking of people looking out for suspects. Additional units of para-military forces and armed police teams from other parts of Telangana were deployed at vulnerable points in old city.

Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel organised march past in some old city areas whiled armed police pickets too were posted at other places. Even ‘OCTOPUS’ teams were kept ready to meet any eventuality. All police stations of South and West zones were put on high alert and were instructed not to leave anything to chance. The searches and patrolling would continue till Sunday morning.

Cyberabad police conducted vehicle checking and subjected people to frisking at many places. Officers of the rank of ACPs were instructed to oversee security arrangements and frisking operations.

DJS activists would stage a demonstration at Indira Park.

Police teams would escort persons taking part in the demonstration and rally to ensure the protest was organised peacefully.
