Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) ombudsman Justice (retd) L. Narasimha Reddy has asked former India captain Mohd. Azharuddin and ex-Member of Parliament V. Hanumanth Rao (representing Amberpet Cricket Club in HCA) to attend another meeting on January 31 here. This was conveyed to the duo when they met the ombudsman on Monday.

“Since I have already submitted a detailed memorandum to the honourable ombudsman about the way HCA is being run, the meeting today was brief, with emphasis laid on the way the last Special General Meeting was held,” Azhar informed The Hindu .

“I reiterated the conflict of interest with regard to G. Vivekanand being the HCA president and simultaneously holding the post of advisor to the Telangana government. I also mentioned how the Aam Admi Party MLAs in Delhi were disqualified on grounds of conflict of interest,” Azhar said.

The ex-cricketer is optimistic of a positive response from the ombudsman. “In today’s meeting, there were a few others, who also raised serious objections to how some ineligible persons were allowed to attend the last SGM,” he said.

Mr. Rao said he had clarified to the ombudsman that he was not hankering after a post in the HCA. “I am raising my voice against the undemocratic manner in which the Association is being run by someone holding dual posts,” he said, adding that he also brought to the ombudsman’s notice how Azhar was made to sit outside at the SGM.

“I requested the honourable official to put to an end to the murky affairs in the HCA at the earliest besides briefing him about the Justice Lodha panel recommendations and how the HCA secretary T. Seshnarayan was suspended,” Mr. Rao said.
