An eight-year-old girl was raped by an unidentified autorickshaw driver at Saidabad on Monday.
The girl, who was admitted to a madrasa in Kurnool by her grandparents after her parents died, came to the city for summer vacation. She was staying with her grandmother near Chanchalguda crossroads. On Monday afternoon, an autorickshaw driver took her to a secluded place at Khajabagh huts in Saidabad, sexually assaulted her and fled the spot, Saidabad Inspector A. Srinivasulu said.
Residents of the locality called in the police on seeing the girl weeping. Based on her grandmother’s complaint, the Saidabad police registered a rape case and launched a hunt for the accused.
