The August Fest, one of the popular events for start-ups, will get underway in the city on August 26.
The highlight of the two-day conclave, to be held on the Indian School of Business campus, this year will be discussions on the opportunities for start-ups in the arena of sports.
Principal Secretary (Industries and IT) Jayesh Ranjan, who on Tuesday unveiled the brochure and poster of the event in the presence of badminton player Jwala Gutta, said the opportunities for entreprenuership were plenty.
The August Fest, he added, has emerged as a forum providing answers to founders of start-ups by bringing many experts to share their experiences.
Investors to attend
As many as 150 speakers are set to address over 20 sessions of the event, in which besides budding entrepreneurs, investors would also be participating. Speaking further, Mr. Jayesh said, the number of start-ups is growing on leaps and bounds in the city.
There were just 200 plus start-ups couple of years ago. In these few years the number jumped many fold and today we have 2500 and the number is growing. This is a good trend to attract the founders, venture capitalists, who don’t go to cities where there are few startups, he added.
Scaleup Festival
A Scaleup Festival and The Sports Carnival form part of the event and around 60 business leaders and sports personalities are expected to address them. There will be 25 start-up pitches and 10 workshops this year, said Adi Vemuru, Chief of Innovation.
