An IT professional employed in Tirupati was on Thursday arrested by sleuths of the Crime Investigation Department for the alleged misuse of the ATM card of a contractor from Chittoor.

E. Charan, 22, had allegedly purchased gadgets online and made investments under different schemes — altogether worth Rs. 4 lakh.

The accused had noted down details of the ATM card of the contractor, a professional associate of his elder brother. He then made online purchases and investments using the card.

Following a complaint lodged by the contractor, the CID Cyber Crime wing officials registered a case.

The sleuths were able to trace the online transactions made through the ATM card to Charan, who was arrested at Tirupati.
