IED blasts rip through crowded areas at Dilsukhnagar
Two powerful explosions ripped through crowded areas at Dilsukhnagar in the eastern part of the State capital on Thursday evening, killing 13 persons and injuring more than 83.
The first blast occurred at 6.50 p.m. on the city’s busiest road that links it with Vijayawada; as terrified people were scampering to safety, the second blast went off.
Authorities say the explosions were caused by improvised explosive devices that could have been kept on bicycles or packed inside frames of bicycles.
The twin blasts brought back painful memories of the August 25, 2007 IED attacks in Lumbini Park, in front of the State secretariat, and at Gokul Chat in Kothi that killed 44 people.
Incidentally, one of Thursday’s blasts took place near a crowded foot over-bridge, where security forces defused an IED five years ago. The device was to go off along with the blasts in Lumbini Park and Gokul Chat.
Eyewitnesses at Anand Tiffin Centre, near the spot where the first blast took place, said someone began shouting about a bomb going off. Even as confused people watched, the IED detonated.

Dear Dr.Tyagi
According to the ISLAM whoever commits heinous crimes like rape, murder
etc. will be punished very strictly. Madarsas are educational
institutions where children learn about ISLAM teachings & practices
not
about extremism.Islam teaches peace , equality. What constitution you
were talking about Dr.Tyagi ,which discriminates specific group, which
is biased see the examples of gujarat, maharashtra.
I don't understand why you people are not posting my comment.
Not sure why Govt is spends millions of Rs on Space Research and Defence
when they cannot protect common civilians from such attacks. There is no
safety for any common man in India. It is very strange that these
attacks happening on a regular basis and Govt/Police/Security forces
have absolute no clue or intelligence on these planned attacks. People
should also ask, whether this negligence on part of Police is done on
purpose so that Govt/Politicians could use such incidents to divert
attention from some other events.
Sensible comments from Dr. Avneesh Tyagi. Sadly the vote bank desi
politics works in complete contradiction to practical wisdom.
very sad incidents,,only cowards can do this ,,,
Condemning the blatant, cowardly act of terrorism, loss of innocent
human beings, which is detrimental to the image of our Hyderabad and
India.I hope the investigators conduct an impartial, unprejudiced
investigation to arrest the enemies of our nation so that innocent
youths are not caught and then made to suffer for years to be acquitted
by the courts.
Kudos to Dr. Avneesh Tyagi, I completely second his views, also would like to ask 'The Hindu' keeping in mind their recent articles advocating against the capital punishment and sympathisizing with afzal guru, do they also feel a 'tinge of sorrow' over the loss of innocent human lives.
@ Avneesh Tyagi
I fully support you in all your demands. Sadly the Congress government and other small parties would object to that, they are not true patriots.
The act of terrorism should be condemned by all mankind. The politicians should refrain from passing casual remarks like Islam terrorism , Hindu terrorism.. so on and try to balance. The channels too should impose some self control in celebrating such heinous deeds.
Instead of spending billions of dollars on purchasing foreign weapons, why doesn't the Govt spend the same money or at least part of it for strenthening the hands of local police. The state police are literally helpless, they work under pathetic conditions, tremendous pressure, get almost no appreciation for their good work but get bashing for sure when they miss out on something like this. I think there is almost no intelligence machinary active on the local grassroots level in cities like Mumbai, Hyderabad, Delhi which are on terror radar since long. Somebody needs to take some serious steps towards this. It is really high time now.
There is a lack of credible human intelligence gathering mechanism in
our country which plays a vital role in preventing such dastardly acts.
There should be in place a sustained, coordinated and disciplined
efforts towards policing and intelligence both by the center and the
states to effectively preempt such activities.
My hearfelt condolences to the families of the innocent lives lost. May God bring sense to these criminals who did this, at least after realising the tragedy they triggered. Prayers for the injured to be recuperating soon. Crime will never bring peace, its terrifying after effects will haunt the criminals forever; in fact they will live a dead life.
The people who have done this are insane, ruthless, cowards who attack
the innocent civilians may Allah punish them both in this life and
hereafter.
It is really terrific incident and most of the people's life had been
taken into a threat. They were bewildered .
This is a bloody sick and cruel act happening at regular intervals at
different parts of the country. Why can't we have end to these? Why can
not be the law enforcing agencies and the govt be very very strict and
relentless on these anti-national and anti-social elements? Why not the
political parties unite together in fight against such animals? Why any
mercy is shown to them on vote bank politics? These and many more
questions cross mind. But, surely we need to have a steel like will and
meticulous plan to stop such mayhem in future.
Manifesto of a Patriot Indian- If I was in the government and had the full authority, I would shut down all Madarsas ASAP. I would make the amendment so that Muslims children can study along with the majority children in the same school. I would place ban on Muslim personnel law, and ask them to follow the common Indian Civil law that does not discriminate based on any religion or caste. I would ban mass prayers on the street which is a symbol of terror demonstrating strength to terrify the minority. I would help majority settle in Kashmir by supporting them financially and militarily. I would ask Kashmir separatists to live Delhi and stay only in Kashmir, of course they can travel across India. I would arrest Yasin Malik for waging war against the sate while living in India. I would remove reservation based on caste and bring our less privileged fellows Indians forward by providing them free education up to graduation based on their financial situation. I would provide youth an education that can have vocational value so that each youth can have the potential to become an entrepreneur. I would ban any violent protest and deal with rioters with iron fist. I would hang rapist if found guilty by honorable court. I would impose life time imprisonment for corrupted people if found guilty by honorable court. I would make sure that the people of the nation and their genuine demands are considered as final mandate for all members of the parliaments. I would set new democratic value to be followed strictly, P-G and G-P meaning People for Government, Government for People. I would make sure that all legislator members and even PM can be held accountable for any disorder or ineffectiveness in the system. I would make sure that any person with criminal background is not allowed to run for the election. There is more I would do but If I was in the government and had the authority. Anyway, I know that now I will be getting lots of abusive responses!
It is a really shocking incident. We the citizens are frustrated beyond
the limit by the repeated mindless attacks on us. It's way too late and
we need this menace to be curbed. Lessons should be taught to such
miscreants in such a way that they shouldn't dare to even think of
attacking us. Also cheap vote bank politics and irresponsible acts of a
failure government are directly hurting the society. Why take the
decision when you can't handle the consequences?
This does not seem to a simple terrorist attack. There could be a
larger Political motive behind it and few possibilties
1)Govt could be behind it - by creating law and order problem and
impose curfew in the city with a motive of preventing protests by
Telangana-supporters.
2)Could be done by someone paid by RSS/BJP to show MIM in bad light
and get political mileage.
3) Done with a intention to divert public and Telangana supporters
away from this movement and buy more time & defer the approaching
deadline and promises which center made to T-supporters.
4)Done by opposition parties to show Govt in bad light and show that
Law and order failed and gain political mileage.
My heartfelt condolences to the family members of those killed in the
blast. Hope the government takes all the necessary steps to find out the
culprits and gives the maximum Punishment.
condoles all loss live
I condemn the Barbarous blasts of the Terrorists. It is because of the complete failure of the State Govt.
The same modulus operandi is being repeated ... Security agencies must put their act together. Only finding the criminals and hanging them will not solve the issue. The roots of such criminals must be destroyed.Awareness amongst citiznes must be spread to look out for suspicious people and objects.Political parties must stand together rather than start their blame games.
such a saddenning state of affairs. 2 blasts in a metro city, time our
government got more vigilant and serious. peace to the deceased.
It is always very shocking to hear loss of lives in these terrorist
attacks. And the most shocking is for the Home Minister to say every
time that they had information. So, why is that the information was not
taken seriously and police all around the country were not put on alert.
By doing so, they would either prevented it from happening or would have
got some concrete information about the perpetrators....
It is indeed quite a matter for serious concern that even though advance information about the attacks are forecast, lack of pro active preparedness in right earnest resulted in the sordid happenings.
This type of attacks should be controlled by strict vigilance of police who should be separated from political interference. Police personnel should be increased two/three fold to safeguard innocent people and protect the public property.
Its a high time for the government to take a stern action against the
culprits and security aspects should be improved in hyderabad and reduce
the panic among the people.Government didn't learned a lesson even after
gokul chat incidents. Hyderabad has become a soft target than any other
metro. people should come forward to help the needy and govt should
provide all the security to the people everywhere
How can these souls rest in peace when the cowards keep on moving freely
with triggers in their hands. Sad day. Please print these pictures in
grey-scale. It is very depressing to see newspapers drenched in blood.
May God help the families who suffered unrecoverable loss, today.
Its really a very brutal attack on mankind which could have been possibly prevented. The Home Ministry speaks of getting the information about the blast 2 days ago still the security agencies couldn't prevent it from happening. It puts a great question mark on Government's ability to give sufficient protection to its citizens. The losses of lives and properties may prove to be detrimental to the affected families for a lifetime. The government should act wisely inorder to prevent happening of massacre in future.
It's a shame on the part of our national and regional political leaders and top police
personnel, that these dastardly crimes occur with regularity. After 9/11, in the USA--
there has NOT been a single terrorist attack. So--it's difficult to comprehend as to
why India cannot emulate that.
Terrorism should be fought with an iron hand, strong political will ( without resorting
to vote bank politics), and a vigilant public and efficient police work.
Otherwise these sad incidents will keep recurring.
Its really shameful!Shows how vulnerable are Mega Cities of India and so
the people to terrorist attacks because the Home Minister himself said
the security agencies had information for the last two days about
possible attack by terrorists which was shared with all the states. Lets
pray for the families who have lost their someone.RIP!!
After 2007 blasts the congress govt made tall claims that they are better equiped to
handle blast victims, but the pictures here show the appalling conditions, with 2
people sharing one bed, without any medical monitors, with not even a decent bed
sheet to cover the beds. The toll is sure to rise given such conditions.
May god help these poor people ..
RIP ...
The Perpetrators shouldn't be left unpunished. There should be Vigilance among
people with their surroundings and should be wary about imminent threats.
Hyderabad should be safeguarded with little cognizance in order to mitigate blasts.
Yet another blast...yet another killing of innocent people. Dear Indians
please unite in condemning the terrorists and weeping for the departed
souls, Please do not indulge in games of religions, ethnicity and
political affilliations
