Anti-Corruption Bureau Special Court has permitted the Karimnagar District Jail Superintendent to transfer suspended ASI B. Mohan Reddy and his close relative J. Sripal Reddy to the Warangal Central Prison.

The suspended ASI is facing a series of cases of abatement to suicide, illegal occupation of properties of others, illegal amassing of wealth, cheating and operating illegal financial business without permission. The ACB had arrested the tainted cop in April on the charges of properties disproportionate to his known sources of income and registered five cases. Since April, he was lodged in the Karimnagar jail.

On November 17, The Hindu published a report on how the tainted cop was granted an opportunity to meet his family members inside the district jail as part of ‘mulakath’ based a video clip. The State Prisons officials had ordered an inquiry into the episode of providing ‘at home’ treatment to Mohan Reddy with his family members in the jail.

Following an inquiry, the authorities transferred Karimnagar Jail Superintendent N. Shiva Kumar Goud to Mahabubnagar on December 8. Mahabubnagar Jail Superintendent Dasaratharam Reddy was posted to Karimnagar. Now, the jail authorities have shifted the tainted cop and his relative to Warangal jail.

Sources said that the jail authorities were unable to focus on tainted cop in Karimnagar as there were no separate special cells to check his illegal activities. Hence, the jail officials had approached the ACB Court for shifting them to Warangal. The court had given orders on Tuesday.

The ASI victims’ association president Mahender Reddy alleged that the tainted cop had converted the jail as his own place for doing settlements and threatening the victims. Demanding the Government of registering PD Act against the duo, he urged the police to arrest Mohan Reddy’s wife and son and recover several documents which were still in their possession and help the victims.

Lok Satta Udyama Samstha district president N. Srinivas flayed the CID officials, who were entrusted with the investigation into illegal businesses of the tainted cop, for not making any progress in the case. He appreciated the ACB officials for their role in lodging the suspended cop in the jail.
