A gang of burglars drove in an Innova and took away 25 gm of gold ornaments from a jewellery shop by making a hole on its shutter using gas cutters in Kukatpally in the early hours of Thursday.
The offenders were trying to open the locker containing nearly 3 kg. gold jewellery when a sweeper of the complex in which the shop was located noticed the hole on the shutter. The sweeper went up the complex and rang up the shop owner Rammohan.
“Apparently worried about the burglary, the shop owner rushed there on his bike along with his wife instead of alerting us. He started shouting on nearing the shop,” the KPHB Colony police station Inspector, G. Baswa Reddy, said. Alerted by the shouts, the offenders ran out with whatever they could lay their hands on. Along with the gold jewellery, they collected silver articles weighing 1.5 kilo and sped away in the Innova. The shop owner noted down the vehicle’s number but it turned out to be false during verification by the police. The offenders entered the shop by making a hole on the shutter using gas cutters.
Later, they tried to open the locker using the same gas cutters when the sweeper saw the hole on the shutter.
