Website registers 23,000 clicks from bidders seeking details
The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) website has been registering unusually high number of clicks since it announced the auction of 42 plots in city and suburbs. The auction schedule started on Saturday last and in just a week, the auction link registered more than 23,000 clicks from interesting bidders wanting to peruse more details. “Till Friday afternoon, the total visits to the auction link on our website stand at 23,344 and we expect it to go up further in coming days,” an official said.
Telangana factor
To what extent the Telangana factor affects the auction would be observed keenly since the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) held a demonstration in front of the HMDA office and demanded that the auction process be stopped. A memorandum to the effect was submitted which the Authority promptly forwarded to the government. However, the officials seem convinced that the T-factor might not cast its shadow on the auction process of the layouts that are spread out in different parts such as Tellapur, Nallagandla, Miyapur and Asifnagar.
“The auction is for small individual plots and not big chunks. We do not look at the possibility of individual property buyers staying away from bidding on this count,” an official said.
The pricing of the plots, most of which did not find bidders in earlier round of auction, range from Rs.9,000 per square yard to Rs.12,000 per square yard. The HMDA had brought down the pricing pattern a bit from earlier rounds to make them more affordable and hope that the move would pay dividends.
“There is an interest among prospective property buyers about the plots which is reflected by the enquiries and actual site and online site visits. This is enquiry phase and we are expecting the actual bidding process to pick up by August 1,” he said. The last date for submission of bids happens to be August 7.
