About 36 Government Vested Municipal (GVMs) properties are to be acquired at a cost of Rs.16 crore through negotiations by the government appointed negotiations committee headed by GHMC Commissioner to facilitate road-widening for the Metro Rail project opposite Makbara in S.R.Nagar.

Hyderabad Metro Rail Corporation would be paying for the land acquisition and structural compensation for removing a major traffic bottleneck on the highway; the Government appointed special task force’s traffic management sub-committee was informed on Wednesday.

Works inspected

The committee headed by Principal Secretary (R&B) S.P. Singh and comprising top civic officials like GHMC Commissioner M.T. Krishna Babu, Addl. Commissioner (Planning) K. Dhananjaya Reddy, ENC R. Dhan Singh, Police Commissioner Anurag Sharma, HMR MD N.V.S. Reddy and others inspected the progress of facilitation works for stage two between Miyapur to S.R.Nagar.

It has approved setting up of barricades for facilitating piers construction from Nizampet to Balanagar ‘Y’ junction once the civic works are done. Two lanes of the alternate road touching the IDL Cheruvu would be ready in two months to reduce congestion between Moosapet RTC depot and JNTU junction, an official spokesman informed.

Most of the road widening has been completed and culvert work is to be done in a month. Junctions are to be improved at Vivekanandanagar, KPHB, JNTU and Nizampet soon.
