Confusion prevailed over the fate of a Hyderabadi, A. Rajender Reddy, 35, who went to Uganda to work as bore-well machine operator, with his employer there giving conflicting information about him.
Rajender Reddy flew to Uganda four months ago to work in the company of Venkateswara Reddy, who too hails from Hyderabad, and lives in Uganda. On Thursday morning, Venkateswara Reddy’s close relative residing here rang up Rajender Reddy’s father and told him that his son suffered 80 per cent burns as the bore-well machine caught fire.
He made another telephone call after a few hours. This time, he reportedly maintained that Rajender Reddy attempted suicide and was admitted in a hospital. The machine operator’s worried family members made telephone calls to his co-workers in Uganda but couldn’t secure any information.
When they contacted Venkateswar Reddy, who is in Uganda, the latter reportedly stated that Rajender Reddy succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment in a hospital.
“There is confusion and suspicions over my brother’s fate in Uganda. I appeal to the government to help us by giving clear information to us about him,” the machine operator’s brother, Surender Reddy, said.
