Police suspect the attack to be a fall-out of the murder of Mansoor’s relative
Two bike-borne persons shot at a businessman, who was riding a motorcycle along with his friend, at Falaknuma in the old city, on Thursday afternoon.
The injured person, identified as Mohd. Mansoor (25), was critically injured in the attack as the bullet hit his head. His friend Shaik Mohammed, who was riding the bike, rushed him to Asra hospital and later he was shifted to Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences where he is battling for life.
A resident of Shahalibanda, the businessman was passing by Bibi Ka Chashma when the assailants came from behind and shot at him from close range around 2.10 p.m.
“A single shot was fired. We’re not yet sure what weapon was used,” the Falaknuma ACP, D. Ch. Hussian, said.
The police suspect the attack was a fall-out of the murder of Mansoor’s relative, Abu Bakar, in which Mansoor was arrested along with three others last year in Shahalibanda. Mansoor had disputes with Bakar over ancestral property.
“The businessman allegedly called Bakar to a house in Khajipura of Shahalibanda in the guise of settling the dispute and stabbed him to death,” the ACP said.
Naturally, suspicions arose about the possible involvement of Bakar’s family members in the fresh attack.
Later, Mansoor was operated upon and the bullet removed from his head. However, his condition continues to be critical.
