A casual worker who was trying to clear a clogged drain was swept away near Chitradarga at Patny in Secunderabad on Thursday.
Three other workers who were also declogging the drain managed to save themselves from the swirling waters, officials said.
As the obstacles were removed, water gushed and one of the workers identified as Devaiah got swept away. Police launched a search operation to locate the missing worker.
